About

The US Department of State reported in 2011 that up to 27 million people worldwide are victims of human trafficking. Polaris Project estimates the number of human trafficking cases in the US to reach into the hundreds of thousands. Although these numbers are difficult to grasp, we can’t ignore the dramatic increase in victims discovered right here in our own Tucson community.

Willow Way is here to partner with law enforcement and to offer refuge to victims.

Community Education is an important part of the healing process for victims. We at Willow are committed to educating the community about prostitution and sex trafficking. The US Department of Justice estimates that up to 300,000 American children are at risk for commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking each year. The stigma attached to a victim of sex trafficking is such that victims report feeling as though they no longer fit into society. It is reported that the average age of entry into prostitution is between 12 and 14 years of age- the same age at which children are often commercially sexually exploited. No longer can society blame the victims, nor can they continue to turn their backs on children who are deemed to be prostitutes.
